Since May SOCAR begins dismantling one of its two refineries

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) starts transfer of its refineries outside of Baku. SOCAR vice-president for environmental Rafiga Huseynzadeh says that since this May the Company is ready to launch dismantling of refinery Azerneftyag’s facilities.

"In the prospect Azerneftyag will be liquidated fully, but currently we are commencing transfer of its main facilities to its other oil refinery named after Heydar Aliyev. SOCAR orients to transfer all its refining capacities outside of Baku within the framework of government policy on the liberation of the city center from the industrials enterprises,” Huseynzadeh said.

Capacities on production of black oil, bitumen and lubricants will be transferred to the Heydar Aliyev refinery and other plants will be dismantled fully. The transfer will begin after government’s relevant decision, but these plans have already been included in the plan of infrastructural development of the Bid Book of Baku Summer Olympic Games 2020. Under the plan, the area to be freed from refinery Azerneftyag will be used for construction of the Olympic village and sports sites.

Today in Lausanne Azerbaijan is presenting its Bid Book to the International Olympic Committee.
